DR. AKABUIKE PAYS CONDOLENCE VISIT TO THE FAMILY OF LATE PROF. PIUS I. OKAFOR AT EKWULOBIA The Chief Medical Director of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital Amaku, Awka, Hon. Dr. Joe Akabuike, on Friday, 27th February 2026, paid a condolence visit to the family of Late Prof. Pius I. Okafor at Ekwulobia. Late Prof. Okafor was a pioneer Board Member of the hospital whose foundational contributions helped shape the institution in its formative years. Dr. Akabuike described him as a medical professional of great repute, an astute administrator, and a selfless servant of humanity who dedicated his life to saving others. He noted that the late professor’s legacy remains indelible in the growth and development of the hospital and in the lives of the many patients and colleagues he impacted. Dr. Akabuike was accompanied on the visit by his wife, Dr. Nkiru Akabuike; the Deputy Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee, Dr. Ifeoma Njelita; the Head of Accounts, Mr. Wilson Ezeilo; the Public Relations Officer, Agbai Henrietta; the Senior Administrative Officer, Mrs. Uche Mbonu; and the Personal Assistant to the CMD, Mr. Vitalian Ozoemena, among others. The delegation expressed deep sympathy to the bereaved family and prayed for the peaceful repose of the departed soul, assuring them that the hospital community shares in their grief and will continue to uphold the noble ideals for which Late Prof. Okafor stood.
