DR. AKABUIKE APPLAUDS DIASPORA LIFELINE FOR INDIGENT PATIENTS AT COOUTH, AWKA The Chief Medical Director of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital Amaku, Awka, Hon. Dr. Joe Akabuike, warmly received various diasporan organizations that visited the hospital during the New Year period to support indigent patients in settling their medical bills. The visiting groups included Igbo Progressive Union–Switzerland led by Chief Odinaka Nwankwo, Anambra State Association, Valencia, Spain led by Mr. Tony, and Awka Women Atlanta, USA led by Mrs. Grace Muogbo, who together spent over ₦4 million to bring relief and hope to patients undergoing treatment at the facility. Dr. Akabuike expressed profound gratitude to the groups for their selfless intervention, describing their gesture as a clear demonstration of love, patriotism, and commitment to humanity. He noted that such timely assistance not only eases the burden on vulnerable patients and their families but also strengthens the healthcare delivery system by ensuring that no one is denied quality medical care due to financial constraints. While appreciating the visitors on different occasions, the Chief Medical Director used the opportunity to call on more individuals, corporate bodies, and diasporans to channel their resources toward the health sector. He emphasized that investing in healthcare is one of the most impactful ways to contribute to societal development, especially in a growing system like Nigeria’s, where collective effort is needed to guarantee accessible and quality healthcare for all.
