Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital (COOUTH) Amaku, Awka, marked its annual End‑of‑Year and Staff Appreciation Day on Friday, 12 December 2025. The ceremony, held under the distinguished leadership of Chief Medical Director, 𝗗𝗿. 𝗝𝗼𝗲 𝗔𝗸𝗮𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗸𝗲 celebrated the dedication and professionalism of the hospital’s workforce throughout the year. In his keynote address, Dr. Akabuike commended staff for their resilience and unwavering commitment, noting that the collective efforts of management and staff have translated into sustained healthcare delivery and increased innovation at the institution. He urged all staff to maintain their exemplary performance, reminding them that the 2026 appreciation day will again recognize the “Best in Department” across the hospital. The event featured the presentation of awards to outstanding employees. The Recipients included: Okoye Chinedu – Best in Accident and Emergency, Dr. Chioma Akabuike – Best in Community Medicine, Kingsley Chijioke Efobi – Best in Physiotherapy, Rev. Sister Chioma Okafor – Best in Radiology, Afoma Ezebube – Best in Pharmacy, Mrs. Obiakor Nneka – Best in Health Records, Azaga Ngozi – Best in Histopathology and many other recipients. Several other staff members were also honored for their distinguished service, teamwork, and innovative contributions. Among the dignitaries present were Hon. Mrs. Dame Theodora Igwebe (Head of Service for Anambra State), Hon. Prince Chinedu Okafor (Chairman of Awka South Local Government) represented by Hon. Chucks Ikebudu, Dr. Ikeakor (Former CMD of COOUTH); and other notable figures. The 2025 End‑of‑Year Appreciation Day reaffirmed COOUTH’s commitment to recognizing the vital role of its staff in advancing healthcare standards in Anambra State and beyond.
