COOUTH CMD, Dr. Akabuike, Hosts Accreditation Team from Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria. The Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital (COOUTH), Amaku Awka Hon. Dr. Joe Akabuike, recently hosted a visiting accreditation team from the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN). Led by Dr. Ndagi Alhassan, the team's visit was for the purpose of re-accrediting the hospital's Nursing Department. The team's objective was to evaluate the hospital's facilities and assess the level of upgrade in nursing services since their last inspection. Dr. Ndagi highlighted the need for continuous training and re-training of nurses to ensure they are exposed to modern nursing care practices. He also commended Dr. Akabuike on the hospital's clean and "odourless" environment, noting that a reliable supply of light and water is essential for quality service delivery. In his response, Dr. Akabuike expressed his appreciation for the team's visit, assuring them that COOUTH was fully prepared for the accreditation. He stated that the hospital had already implemented most of the recommendations from the council's previous visit. Dr. Akabuike also affirmed that Governor Chukwuma Soludo's administration is committed to supporting the hospital with quality healthcare delivery and security, prioritizing the safety, welfare, and well-being of its staff.
