DR. AKABUIKE CALLS FOR LAUGHTER THERAPY AS HE WISHES EVERYONE A NEW MONTH OF FULFILLMENT The Chief Medical Director of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Amaku, Awka, Hon. Dr. Joe Akabuike, has encouraged the public to make time for laughter and lighthearted conversations with friends and neighbours. According to him, joking and sharing happy moments are natural forms of therapy that help the mind to relax, reduce stress, and open the body to healing. He reminded people that not all illnesses are treated with drugs, but many can be eased with joy, relaxation, and a cheerful mind. Dr. Akabuike explained that in the past, our forefathers lived healthier lives because they valued leisure and contentment, unlike today’s generation burdened with pressure, competition, and worries. He emphasized that healing begins from within, and when the mind is free and positive, the body responds better to treatment and overall wellbeing improves. He therefore urged people to create more moments of laughter and connection, as this contributes to better physical, emotional, and social health. As he wished the people a happy new month, Dr. Akabuike prayed that this month brings everyone closer to their goals. He expressed hope for a month of peace, prosperity, and productivity, encouraging all to embrace joy, laughter, and togetherness as part of their daily lives. He concluded that a happy mind is the foundation of a healthy body, and with it, fulfillment will follow. Public Relations Office COOUTH, Amaku, Awka.
