DR. AKABUIKE COMMENDS GOVERNOR SOLUDO’S TIMELY INTERVENTION IN RESOLVING COOUTH RESIDENT DOCTORS’ STRIKE The Chief Medical Director of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital (COOUTH), Amaku, Awka, Hon. Dr. Joe Akabuike, has on behalf of the Management of COOUTH, expressed profound appreciation to the Governor of Anambra State, His Excellency Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, for his timely and helpful intervention in resolving the warning industrial strike embarked upon by the Association of Resident Doctors (ARD) of the institution. He described the Governor’s action as a demonstration of visionary and people–oriented leadership, reflected in his progressive efforts to strengthen both human capacity and infrastructural development in the state’s health sector, especially at the Teaching Hospital. Dr. Akabuike further commended the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike; the Head of Service, Barr. Theodora Igwegbe; the Anambra State Chairman of the Nigerian Medical Association, Dr. P. C. Okam; and other stakeholders who contributed to the amicable resolution. He noted that their collaborative efforts not only restored industrial harmony but also reinforced confidence in the state government’s commitment to the welfare of medical professionals and the overall improvement of healthcare services in Anambra State. Dr. Akabuike also acknowledged the cordial relationship that has existed between the Resident Doctors and the hospital management, assuring them of his unwavering commitment to sustaining and strengthening this bond. He emphasized that improving the conditions of service for healthcare workers remains a top priority, as it is key to delivering quality healthcare to the people and actualizing the vision of transforming COOUTH into the leading centre for medical tourism in Africa.
