The Chief Medical Director of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital (COOUTH), Amaku, Awka, Hon. Dr. Joe Akabuike, on the 3rd of July, 2025, paid a courtesy visit to the Chief Executive Officer of Nest Foods Limited, Mr. Obinna Nwosu, at his office in Okpuno, Awka. The visit was to express heartfelt appreciation for the generous support the company has consistently extended to patients of the Teaching Hospital. Dr. Akabuike commended the CEO and his team for their regular visits to the hospital to share bread with patients, describing the gesture as a clear demonstration of kindness and corporate responsibility.

Dr. Akabuike noted that their commitment to humanitarian service has significantly boosted the morale of patients and reflected positively on the hospital’s environment. He emphasized that such support not only meets immediate needs but also inspires hope and uplifts the spirit of those undergoing treatment. The CMD assured the CEO of the hospital's willingness to sustain and deepen the existing relationship between both institutions for the benefit of the community.

The two leaders also used the opportunity to discuss pressing national issues, particularly the challenges posed by the high cost of electricity supply in Nigeria. They expressed concern over the growing financial burden that erratic and expensive power places on the smooth running of institutions and private businesses alike. Both agreed on the urgent need for government intervention and policy reforms that will address the energy crisis, reduce operational costs, and improve service delivery in critical sectors such as healthcare and food production.
