The Chief Medical Director of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Amaku, Awka, Hon. Dr. Joe Akabuike, on Tuesday, 1st of July, 2025, received a delegation from Nanka Schools Project, a notable community development group with deep roots in promoting education and healthcare in Anambra State. The delegation was led by Pharm. Mrs. Chinyere Akoh and her long-time American friend, Jill, a retired Radiology Technologist with many years of professional experience. Also part of the team was Dr. Chike Akoh, a United States- based Orthopedic Surgeon and son of Pharm. Akoh.

During the visit, Dr. Akabuike took the team around various key units of the hospital, including the Private Ward, Radiology Department, Pharmacy, Hospital Theatre, and The Maternal and Child care Center. The aim was to give the visitors a first hand assessment of the hospital's current infrastructure, operations, and areas requiring support. The tour was both interactive and insightful, with the visitors expressing admiration for the level of work being done, while also noting areas where intervention could bring greater impact.

Dr. Akabuike expressed appreciation to Nanka School Projects for their track record of supporting education and healthcare and emphasized the importance of community partnerships in improving public health institutions. He welcomed any form of collaboration or assistance that would enhance service delivery at the Teaching Hospital. In response, Pharm. Akoh and her team reaffirmed their commitment to identifying areas of need within the facility and pledged to explore avenues for sustainable support, particularly in specialized medical equipment and capacity development.
