The Administrative Department of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Amaku, Awka, gathered solemnly on Tuesday, 1st July 2025, to mourn the painful passing of their colleague, Late Mrs. Nwanneka Ekwunife. Staff members, dressed in black, assembled at the Hospital’s central store by 10:00 a.m. to pay their respects and reflect on the tragic loss of the dedicated head of the store unit.

Mrs. Ekwunife, who was known for her diligence, warmth, and professionalism, passed away on June 27, 2025, barely two weeks after childbirth. Her untimely death sent shockwaves through the hospital community, especially among the admin staff, who described her as a strong pillar of support and an inspiration to many. Her contributions to the hospital's operations and the welfare of her colleagues will be remembered for years to come.

The gathering was marked by solemn prayers, words of tribute, and deep expressions of grief as the staff united in solidarity with the bereaved family. The Head of Administrative Department, Mrs Chioma Ibekie, extended her condolences, describing her death as not only a loss to her family but also to the hospital at large. Some staff from Nursing Services, Radiology, Works, and other departments came around to show solidarity and pray for the happy repose of Late Mrs Nwanneka Ekwunife.
