COOUTH CMD WELCOMED FIRE SERVICE OFFICIALS, AWKA CHAPTER, AND ANAMBRA PHILANTHROPIST ON A COURTESY VISIT. The Chief Medical Director Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital Amaku , Awka Dr Maureen Uche Umeakuewulu, on Wednesday 17th June 2026 received fire service officials ably led by ACFS Chukwuemeka Akpagu on a courtesy visit. This visit is aimed at establishing and fostering a cordial relationship between the two organizations ACFS, Akpagu Congratulated the CMD on her appointment and recognized the fact that she is the first female CMD in COOUTH. Akpagu expressed his belief that the two organizations can partner and work hand in hand to serve Ndi Anambra. Also he commended the institution for having a fire service presence with the presence of fire extinguishers and fire exits at various strategic points. He, however proposed the need to have a mini fire service station in the facility. The CMD retaliated by welcoming the fire officials and thanked them for finding the institution worthy of establishing a mini fire service unit and promised to follow up on the proposition stating that her mode of operation is not only to deliberate on issues but also to swing into action. Dr Maureen also stated the institutions preparedness to partner with the fire service to execute their corporate social responsibilities to the people of Anambra state in areas of health awareness. She reassured them that our institution is open to partner in any way they deemed it necessary. She pointed out the need for time to time awareness since fire outbreak is a serious issue. The CMD also appealed to the fire service department to also help in periodic check in our facility to ensure that equipments such as fire extinguishers are properly functional in case of emergency and also conduct fire drills for staff and patients so as to know how to act in times of emergency. In the other hands, Chief Cyril Bobisco Okoye, the (Ezeani Adazie of Adazi-ani) also in the same spirits, congratulated the CMD on her new appointment and stated he is positive that her administration will move the institution to an enviable level. He thanked the state government for the opportunity given to Dr Maureen to steer this institution in the right direction. The Ezeani was given a little tour of the facility by the CMD, showcasing the areas under construction and the various wards that have gotten a face lift. The philanthropist was amazed at the magnitude of work on going in the facility and, in solidarity, offered the sum of five million naira.(#5,000,000) aimed at offsetting the bills of the indigent patients in our ward. He also pledged to provide ventilators to the hospital. The philanthropist stated that "Anambra is ours, "lets grow Anambra" he also called on well meaning Ndi Anambra to partner with the institution by providing modern equipments for better service delivery, stating that together in a public private partnership spirit, we can achieve the Solution Agenda for greater Anambra. The CMD, Dr Maureen, eulogized Chief Adazie for his immense generosity to the hospital stating that God will continue to bless and strengthen him the more noting that whatever he gives to the hospital will be put into good use. In a vote of thanks, the Chairman Medical Advisory Committee,Dr. Nnaemeka Umedum thanked the fire service officials for establishing cordial relationship with COOUTH and reassured them of our unwavering partnership. The CMAC expressed joy seeing that the institution COOUTH is attracting the presence of illustrious sons /philanthropists of Anambra state and prayed for more recognition. The CMD received the visitors with her management team, which includes: Dr Nnaemeka Umedum, chairman medical advisory committee, Dr Ifeoma Njelita, deputy chairman medical advisory committee, Mr Wilson Ezeilo, head of Accounts, Mrs Angela Nebo, Head of Nursing services, Mrs Chioma Ibekie, head of administration, Agbai Henrietta N. Public Relations Officer,Mrs Uju Ejiofor, Auditor, among others.
