DR. UMEAKUEWULU RECEIVES EFCC DELEGATION, EXPLORES MEDICAL RETAINERSHIP PARTNERSHIP The Chief Medical Director of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital (COOUTH), Awka, Dr. Maureen Uche Umeakuewulu, on Wednesday, 6th May 2026, received a delegation from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Awka Zonal Directorate, on an official visit to her office. The delegation, led by the Acting Zonal Director, Awka, ACE I Ofen-Mu Atiba Sunday, stated that the visit was to initiate discussions on areas of collaboration between the Commission and the Teaching Hospital. The CMD warmly welcomed the team and described the engagement as a significant step toward strengthening institutional relationships. During the meeting, the EFCC delegation proposed a medical retainership arrangement with COOUTH for the provision of healthcare services to its staff and detainees. The proposal underscored the Commission’s commitment to ensuring access to quality medical care for all under its jurisdiction. Discussions also highlighted the importance of inter-agency collaboration in promoting efficient service delivery and strengthening systems that support public welfare and institutional effectiveness. In her remarks, Dr. Umeakuewulu expressed her readiness to partner with the EFCC, noting that the vision of COOUTH under her administration is to make quality healthcare accessible to all segments of society. She emphasized that access to quality healthcare is a fundamental right of every individual and reaffirmed the hospital’s commitment to delivering excellent medical services. The CMD further reiterated that COOUTH is on a steady path toward becoming a global centre of medical excellence, in line with the vision of the Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, of building a livable and prosperous homeland.
