DR. UMEAKUEWULU RECEIVES ADMINISTRATION STAFF, DESCRIBES THEM AS ENGINE ROOM OF COOUTH The Chief Medical Director of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Amaku, Awka, Dr. Maureen Uche Umeakuewulu, on Thursday, 30th April 2026, received members of the Administration Department who paid her a courtesy visit to officially welcome her to the facility and celebrate Mother's day celebration with her. The staff noted that although the occasion had passed, it was important to celebrate with their “mother,” emphasizing that it is better late than never. The visit was marked by goodwill, appreciation, and a reaffirmation of support for the CMD’s leadership. Speaking on behalf of the department, the Head of Administration, Mrs. Chioma Ibekie, congratulated the CMD and commended her efforts so far, especially in the areas where noticeable improvements have been recorded in the Teaching Hospital. She also appreciated the Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, for appointing Dr. Umeakuewulu at such a critical time, describing the appointment as both remarkable and timely. Mrs. Ibekie used the opportunity to present some of the challenges facing the department and assured the CMD of the unalloyed support and solidarity of the staff, stressing their readiness to contribute meaningfully toward the realization of her vision. In her response, Dr. Umeakuewulu appreciated the Administration staff for the visit and described them as the engine room of the hospital’s management. She also expressed gratitude to the Governor for the opportunity to serve and contribute to the healthcare development of the state. The CMD assured the staff of her inclusive leadership style, promising to carry everyone along in the journey of transforming the hospital into a global centre of medical excellence. She noted that some of the challenges raised were already receiving attention, while others would be addressed promptly, and called on all staff to remain committed and supportive. Dr. Umeakuewulu further emphasized that her administration is anchored on a tripod of clinical services, training, and research, urging staff to prepare for the task ahead with dedication and professionalism. She encouraged continuous personal development while assuring that the hospital would also prioritize structured training for staff. The visit concluded with prayers offered for the CMD by members of the department, who also presented her with gifts, including a portrait of the Divine Mercy and a desk nameplate, as a symbol of their support and goodwill.
