PHILANTHROPY IN ACTION: HOPE RESTORED AT COOUTH AMAKU, AWKA On Tuesday, 21st April 2026, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital (COOUTH), Amaku, Awka, witnessed a remarkable act of generosity as Hon. Johnpaul Chekwube Iloduba, the Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of ZIMWAY GROUP visited the hospital and offset the medical bills of indigent patients to the tune of ₦2,121,500. The kind gesture brought relief and renewed hope to several patients and their families who had been burdened by the cost of treatment. Beyond the financial support, the donor also pledged to foster further collaboration by attracting more individuals and partners to invest in the hospital, signalling a growing confidence in the institution’s vision and capacity. The Chief Medical Director, Dr. Maureen Uche Umeakuewulu expressed deep appreciation for the benevolence, describing it as timely and impactful. She noted that such interventions align with her consistent advocacy for Public-Private-Community Partnership, in line with the vision of the Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo. Dr. Umeakuewulu emphasized that collaboration with the private sector remains crucial in advancing accessible and affordable quality health care for all. She offered prayers for God’s continued blessings upon Hon. Johnpaul and called on other well-meaning individuals and organizations to emulate the noble example.
