DR. UMEAKUEWULU ENGAGES NURSING STAFF, REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO WELFARE AND QUALITY HEALTHCARE DELIVE

The Chief Medical Director of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Amaku, Awka, Dr. Maureen Uche Umeakuewulu, on Monday, 14th April 2026, held a strategic meeting with the staff of the Nursing Department, where she reassured them of her unwavering commitment to staff welfare and quality healthcare delivery. During the interactive session, she listened attentively to their concerns and challenges, promising swift and practical interventions in line with the vision of the Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, particularly as it relates to improving staff welfare and strengthening healthcare services. Dr. Umeakuewulu expressed deep appreciation for the dedication, resilience and sacrifices of nurses, acknowledging their central role in patient care and hospital operations. She encouraged them to redouble their efforts, emphasizing that nurses remain at the heart of all clinical activities in the hospital. According to her, a motivated and cheerful nursing workforce is fundamental to achieving excellence, noting that when nurses are fully engaged and supported, the hospital naturally progresses towards higher standards of service delivery. She reiterated that the overarching vision of the Governor is to position COOUTH as a global centre of medical excellence. The Chief Medical Director also assured the nurses of her commitment to creating a more conducive working environment that would enhance productivity and job satisfaction. The meeting was attended by the Head of Nursing Services, Mrs. Angel Nebo, who led the nursing team, alongside key members of management including the CMAC, Dr. Nnaemeka Umedum, the Deputy CMAC, Dr. Ifeoma Njelita, the Head of Administration, Mrs. Chioma Ibekie, and the Head of Accounts, Mr. Wilson Ezeilo, among others.
